Whelp, can't say I consider myself a developer yet, but since I've committed to finishing this project, I decided that now would be a good time to begin documenting some progress from time to time.
The name of the project is "To my dear RP partner...", and it's going to be a first-person horror adventure game with puzzle elements. Nothing to complicated, in fact, I think, it will probably be possible to beat the game in 20-ish minutes or less, and the most time-consuming gameplay element will probably be the maze. Since it's my first game, the map is pretty small, the mechanics for "quests" won't be too complicated, as well as the story, it's pretty much just a game that let's me test out what can I do with GDevelop in a fun way.
But I do plan to try and make it as entertaining as possible with limitations of my low skill and experience in gamedevelopment, like making some cutscenes, eastereggs and silly inner monologue. There is also going to be available three different languages - english, ukrainian and russian.
As for the progress - I'd say it's about 60-70 percent done actually. The main menu is basically finished with the exception of SFX slider (cuz i didn't add any sounds yet, only music in the main menu), so I'm currently working on finishing the scene where the actual gameplay is going to take place. The map is also pretty much done, but I need to add some obstacle objects, a couple of items needed for "puzzles", some decorations and another part of the map that I won't talk about for now. And lastly I'll have to make couple more small cutscenes, write monologue for interactions and translate it. It really isn't too hard thanks to the engine (and some trial and error), but I want to use custom textures for as many items as I can (maybe in the future I will make an update where all of the surroundings have custom texture, but for now it will mostly be the small things I know won't take too long), so that takes some time.
Anyway, this is going to be a game born from memes, and even though I'm going to use "horror" tag for it, it's probably going to end up being more silly than scary. I don't really expect it to be very known outside of my friend group (which is fine, cuz I'm doing it for them to play in the first place), but I hope it also will find the people that would find it charming in it's own way.
I have recently posted more screenshots on my TikTok page, which you can find here, as well as my other social medias.
