Turntable Chef VR game overview

This past semester in my studies I took a VR development class where I, and two other peers, created 'Turntable Chef'. It's a seated VR experience which was created using a Meta Quest 2 headset and Unity.
Certainly still some bugs and errors, but it was interesting integrating haptic controller feedback into the game. It was mostly through chopping things.

I liked adding in the outlying things such as the taps behind the player being able to turn on, and Squeaky the mouse chomping whenever they nibble on a bit of cheese.

If I were to further develop this (not that I have plans to at the moment) I would:

  • Comb through the interactions and add more sound effects and haptic feedback
  • Visual effects  - more sparkles, glimmers and highlight to draw attention and let players know their successes
  • A more robust step-by-step system for going through the recipe steps (it's very easy to skip reading it altogether)
  • More peripheral interactions - how cool would it be to throw birdseed out the window and see some flutter down, or cleaning down surfaces that have spills, washing up items or even have mouse Chef Squeaky do a little more.

There's probably more than that, but that's all that comes to my mind currently.
