SFX Release and Updates: 8-BIT GAMEBOY SONGS DX - THE COMPLETE COLLECTION

This post is both to give a status update continuing the previous post on 8-BIT GAMEBOY SONGS DX - THE COMPLETE COLLECTION and as an additional announcement/discussion for 8-BIT GAMEBOY SONGS DX - SFX only

The plan is still to make a complete collection that includes all of the other tracks from Volumes 1 and 2 (converted to .UGE, .MP3, .WAV, and now .C), the aforementioned SFX, and a new Volume 3.

RELEASED - A pack of 60 SFX (to be included in "COMPLETE COLLECTION")
IN PROGRESS - The original Volumes 1 and 2 converted from .mod to .uge (~75%)
IN PROGRESS - About 75% of Volume 3 composed

------- SFX Discussion

As with most projects, once you start getting into the work, there are usually setbacks. While I had to re-compile the sound effects a couple of times, I eventually got them to correctly export in all the formats I was hoping for (besides .MOD).

I ended up not including .MOD although I mentioned it was my goal in past posts. I figured .SAV works better for file space, and .UGE can more easily replicate the .SAV waveforms if anyone wanted an editable "music track" version instead of a "sound effect". The .MOD versions would have taken a while to make accurately and don't seem to provide much additional benefit.

------- Current Plan and Pricing

In order to at least get SOMETHING out at the end of June, I decided to release the .SAV/.UGE/.C/.MP3/.WAV files for the SFX as a standalone item. The "COMPLETE COLLECTION" release will be delayed for at least several weeks based on my current schedule, but thanks for the kind words and patience so far!

A low barrier to access these sounds is still a top priority for me. I've currently set the standalone SFX pack at $1 USD, mostly because that's as low as itch.io allows for a paid item. The upcoming "COMPLETE COLLECTION" is expected to be a few dollars USD as mentioned here and here. I'm considering a permanent sale/bundle/coupon option for those who already purchased the 'SFX only' to help make it fair to those buyers.

As noted previously, the plan is to continue to have the Volume 1 and 2 projects available (.MOD versions) with no cost required
