Starlight: The Blackbird Tales - Worklog 06052024

From the desk of the Majicrafter,
I am very proud of this update. I set out a goal for myself to make this game looks better (and function better) than the ones before.
SO I started on a ship battle system yesterday. 3/4 of the way through, I realized, while it was functional...it looked TERRIBLE. So I Hit Ctrl+A and DEL and started again. I am glad I did!

Fig A. The basic battle display.

Fig. B Hovering over an enemy will tell you there current status.

Fig C. Hovering over a different enemy.

Fig D. Clicking an enemy raises the battle bar. You can make a basic attack, fire a torpedo, cloak, scan for cloaked enemy ships, attempt to outrun the enemies, or cancel this target an select another one.

While cloaked, you cannot attack or be attacked. You can recharge your shields while cloaked.
Outrunning can help you shake some enemies so that you have to fight fewer. If your fast enough you can flee the battle all together.

The code currently supports having a "fleet" of ships, having special crew members will add special attacks or abilities you can use in battle, if they are aboard that ship. :)

Fig E. Making this little torpedo fly from your ship and hit the enemy was a total pain in the butt.
