Dear Logbook,
Old Mason has been cooking up a storm with a cool new project: Graves. Take on the role of a postmortem necromancer summoning skeletal minions in this skirmish card battler.
Snazzy right?
I've been trying really hard to just do one project. My brain is constantly coming up with cool new ideas or ways to revitalize old ideas. In reality, I need to stick to one project and finish it before moving on like that. I know some things aren't worth your time and effort to dump time and resources into but I really haven't had a idea that lasted more than 2 days lately.
So Graves...
It stemmed from this idea where you'd command multiple units at once, but only one at a time. Cool concept, might go back, but after turning it around in my head I came out with this 'clash royale' game. I had been playing the mobile game a lot lately, and for the uninitiated, it's like autonomous fantasy chess: you put your little dudes on the field and they act in a certain way or pattern. The goal is to deal enough damage to destroy the opponents castle. My game has units, but their all the alike. No special patterns or personalities, just blank slate skeletons. the strategy comes in with the cards. These cards alter the units in some way, some can damage them, move them around, or even freeze them in place. I've gone through two stages of cards, rooting out the ones that didn't flow or where overpowered. I'll do some more testing with a buddy and get some feedback.
Ok. I've been talking for long enough. If you've read this far, your a real one, appreciate you. Peace out girl scout.
-Mason
P.S. Enjoy some card sneak peeks!
