General Update

I haven't posted in a while so figured I'd kind of go on a rant.

Current ptojects and their status

Palion Energy Sytem: The last thing I need before I can begin, is to get soemthing stupid to work. The particle you'll be using needs to bounce around a maze you make. In Unity, despite doing everything suggested to buff up the physics engine, the particle isn't boucning right. Imagine it's boucning down a cooridor, hitting a wall then going across to hit another wall while traveling down the hallway. It keeps doing this dumb thing where it will sometimes just...start gonig back the way it came for no apaprent reason. Like imagine it hits a wall at a 45 degree angle, so it should bounce off at a 135 degree angle, right? Instead it goes back the way it came with no spin or other force. It's driving me insane.

Transcending Fear: Game seems to work just fine but I only have two playtesters and they're so used to the game that them filming gameplay will be underwhelming.  I watold ahving game footage would really help. TF has been my biggest game yet. It's relatively simple but mother of god it broke my sanity so many times.

Laborynth of the Abyss: I'm having a tough time deciding what this game is going to be but I'm wanting to make my own spaceship game. It originally started off as you control a relatively big ship and you fend off squads of enemies. As you go along, you upgrade your ship and even buy new weapons. However I'd love it to be more of a freeroaming game. It woul be cool to have your own ship, with scanning and an assload of other modules. I'd ideally like to have a brief campaign, a Raid Mode where you fight increasingly harder enemies and eventually a mutiplayer 1 v 1 mode but that's farther down the line.

Smaller games

My plan is to work on 3-4 smaller games to add to my profile, just for the sake of playing.

City Of Nohope. A basic arcade game where the player starts in a city and has to survive for 7 days. There are pickups that teleport to a random spot on the map whenever they're touched. There are monsters that spawn at night and every new night, a new monster/event is added to the roster of stuff that can spawn. This game is going very well and after I finish testing all the enemies, I'm going to add a few more skills to buy with XP.  If this game does well, I'll add more content like lootable buildings, improved graphics, more skill and more events/enemies. I'm currently keeping it lowpoly (about as low graphics as it gets without using just basic geometrical shapes or even just images) but I might add in an option to boost the graphics. I want people even on low end computers to play my games but that can become a serious hassle with bigger games.

The Maze: Based off The Maze Runner, the player spawns into a randomly generated world. During the day, the doors to the maze open. The player's main goal is to find 4 spheres and bring them back to base that will open an exit so they can leave. This exit is randomly in the world and only opens at night as well. There are monsters that spawn at night that range in how vicious they are. To make things interesting, the player has a hunger gauge. While the trees in the initial grove have plenty of fruit, this fruit doesn't respawn very quickly. There are vines/plants that spawn in the world which will grow fruit that's completely randomized. While food will always help fill you up, it may come with a cost or bonus. Poisonus fruit can be added to weapons to give them a temporary additional effect. You'll know what the fruit does when you see it but every run through will generate random fruit. You can break this fruit down into seeds to grow at yor base. You will also be able to craft some basic armor and weapons. Spears do the best damage and can be stabbed with but have medium throw range. Arrows have the best range but low damage.

I've been having fun polling local gaming groups and seeing what people like/dislike/want to see more of. I'm in this weird box of being limied to what I WANT to do, and what I'm CAPABLE of doing. I'm toying around with the idea of making a Stealth action game called My Silencer, where you play the role of an assassin working for The Black Hand in Skyrim. Not literally THAT but imagine an entire game based on just that idea. I'm getting better with stealth mechanics but they can be tricky when it comes to realistic enemy line of sight.

Non-game stuff

I've been constantly derailed by horrifying back pain and a mice infestation. My sister lost her job and is trying to get on disability. In the mean time, she's trying to start a Youtube career and is doing surprisingly well. My job continues to mostly be 90% me not having to do a damn thing so it leaves me plenty of time to watch tutorials on Unity and read their technical manuals. What I make up for in lack of effort, is offset by drama lol. Also the working conditions can be...interesting. Hostile drivers come in and I have to check them in for their loads and they look for any excuse to tell me about their lord and savior: Trump. Also there are only two kinds of weather conditions: freezing cold or hordes of bugs. I'm the only source of light and CO2 in the middle of a large field. The bug zapper is gonig all night and the smell/noise can drive you insane. During the winter, when it gets cold enough, the heater stops warming the booth and tries to heat itself in vain. There are additional floor heaters in the booth though.

I've been making decent sidecash buying and selling crypto. It tanked for a brutal week but seems to finally be on hte rise again. I've made about 2k total but with my tax return, I'm hoping to push that further.
