Pixel Jam: Day 2 Devlog "Calamari Calamity"

On Saturday May 10th I went to sleep praying the theme wouldn't be something water related and on May 11th I awoke from my slumber and took a peek at the Jam Page... It was Aqua
So I spent the first full day pissed off, and now on May 12th I started Development.

I decided for a bullet hell game themed around a Calamari running from a Seal.
and I made pretty good progress

Here was the first movement test which was just a simple "Point and move toward mouse" simple as,
I decided I wanted the Calamari to ease more into its position, and look a little more like swimming so: I did just that

On the bullet side of things I wanted them to be bubbles whether they came from the Seals mouth or just from the "ocean current"

I wasn't and I'm still not great at the movement which is very evident
I added 2 attacks:
One where the Seal goes to the top of the screen and throws up bubbles
and, one where the Seal flaps its little arms to make the Calamari go into a incoming barrage of bubbles (though I haven't fully implemented the "wind"? yet).

In this video I refined the graphics a teensy bit
Reworked movement and added a new attack:
The Seal will spin its arm around and send out a barrage of bubbles
(And I got slightly better at dodging)

Mostly It for today I have a huge checklist to work on but hopefully a week is enough to get it all done!
Here's a list of current priorities:
- Title Screen
- HP and Death
- (Player) Attacking

thanks for tuning in stranger come around tomorrow for another log for "Calamari Calamity"!
