No more CC licenses

Since Creative Commons has issued support for generative AI by stating it falls under fair use, independent creators have really no choice at this point but to abandon it. Fortunately, music is thus far a little harder to steal in the same way that visual art is, but to prevent my albums being used to train AI processes, I've changed my licensing terms from CC-BY-NC-SA to All Rights Reserved. I hate having to say that, but it's the only way I can be sure my interests are protected.

What does this mean for casual listeners? Nothing. If all you're going to do is listen to my music, either as an album unit, or in bits in a private playlist on your phone or computer, you don't need to do anything.

It's only if you're planning on licensing my music for a public application that you have to concern yourself with my new terms of use. At the top of all of my soundtrack descriptions is a link to my website, where you can find specific details about how to license my work and what you may not do with it.

However, going forward, unless Creative Commons retracts their statement, I will no longer use any of their public licenses, including CC0. I would urge other creators with CC public licenses to examine whether their licenses need changing, as well.

EDIT: You may be asking, "Well, what if I don't want to license the music? What if I just want to download it as though I was going to listen to it and then dump it into my IP-distilling art synthesiser?" That would be a breach of the license terms as well. Just because you aren't using the music in a TV commercial or YouTube video doesn't mean you aren't bound by the same license restrictions that commercial and independent creators have to agree to. These are laid out in detail on my website.
