Hello hello, welcome back to another devblog from yours truly! I pushed this a month later because March was going to be a very busy month, and I'm excited to talk about everything that went on!
This year I attempted NaNoRenO 2024 with a short game idea I cooked up a while back. Unfortunately, because of just how busy I was with school and something I'll mention later in this blog I wasn't able to get it to a public state in time. However I do still want to finish and release it, so you can expect to see that in the coming months!
Here's previews of the game itself, Wanderlust of the Immortal Scribe.
My estimated stats (because there's still some things to work on) are: roughly 6k words, 3 bgs, 5 characters. A much smaller game, which is what I needed after all the time I've spent on Forget Me Not haha.
And now, no more beating around the bush. It's time I finally talked about the other thing that took up my March, and made me unable to finish Wanderlust...
That's right! I essentially did TWO NaNoRenOs last month at the same time, as for one of my final projects I made a visual novel!
It's a short murder mystery VN (roughly 10k words!) and it stars an original character of mine that I've had in my back pocket for quite a long time now. This final let me flesh out this old idea I've had, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
The version for school used the default UI and some stock bgs, but everything else was made by yours truly. Here's some screencaps of the game in its current form.
While I am pretty happy with what I have so far, for the version I'll be releasing on itch in the near future I'll be making some changes and additions! Some of which are:
I'm really excited to release this to all of you!
Because of the two projects above (as well as school), I basically set Forget Me Not aside so I could devote all my time to them. However, now that I'll soon be free I plan on going back into my final touches for the game! This includes finally finishing all the assets, doing another pass of the script to touch things up, playtesting, and handing the game over to beta testers!
Because of everything that went on I'll end up releasing three games this year, which makes me super excited! And I hope this trend continues and I'll be able to share more short games while I work on my longer ideas.
Anyways that's all from me, I'll see you next dev blog. Bye~!
