## "Silent" | Working Title |
## Today marks the beginning of what I hope is an exciting journey into the creation of my 2D top-down game, "Silent." I'm wearing all the hats e.g. design, writer, sound, coder, the list goes on. Today involved designing a folder and file hierarchy that would keep my assets organized and easily accessible throughout the project's lifespan.
## I began by creating a root directory named "SilentGameDev" to house all project-related files and assets. This served as my central hub for development activities. Next, I designed several subdirectories within the main directory to compartmentalize different aspects of the development process. These included directories for design documents, art assets, audio assets, code, logs, and documentation. Within each main directory, I meticulously crafted further subdirectories to categorize specific types of files and assets. This granular approach ensured that everything had its place, making it easier for me to locate resources efficiently.
## To maintain consistency and clarity, I adhered to a standardized naming convention throughout the hierarchy. This simple yet effective practice would prevent confusion and streamline collaboration as the project progressed.
## Next Steps:
## As I wrap up today's work, my focus shifts towards the next phases of our development journey:
## Design Documentation: Begin drafting initial concepts, mechanics, level designs, and UI/UX sketches to flesh out the game's vision.
## Art Asset Creation: Dive into the creation of concept art, sprites, animations, tilesets, and UI assets to breathe life into the game world.
## Audio Asset Collection: Gather or create music tracks and sound effects to enrich the game's auditory experience and enhance immersion.
## Code Implementation: Develop scripts, leverage plugins, and third-party libraries, and manage Godot project files to build the game's core functionality.
## Logging & Documentation: Maintain regular updates to development logs, track bug reports, and document meeting minutes to ensure clear communication and accountability.
## Expectations for Future Entries: As our journey continues, I look forward to sharing insights into our progress, challenges faced, milestones achieved, and decisions made throughout the development cycle of "Silent." Each entry will offer a glimpse into the evolution of my game, from its conceptualization to its eventual release. Until next time, onwards and upwards!
## Signing off for now,
Amelia MacKinnon
