So, I decided to dive into Godot and 2D game development this weekend. My laptop's on its last legs, with just about enough storage space for a sneeze, but hey, why not give it a shot?
Getting Godot to work was a bit of a hassle. Had to clear out some junk and sacrifice a few things, but eventually, it cooperated. Spent some time reliving the Skate 3 glory days before deciding it was time to get serious... or as serious as one can get with this setup.
Nodes, physics—yeah, all that stuff seemed like gibberish at first. But hey, there's always YouTube, right? So I'll figure it out eventually.
Thought about making a platformer, but then I remembered physics is involved, so I settled for Godot's "Your First 2D Game" tutorial. Seemed like a good starting point, and I'm all about taking the easy route.
Tutorials are a mixed bag. Followed the steps, copied some code, and voila, "Dodge The Creeps!" It ain't much, but it's something. I'm not even sure if it fully works.
Anyway, that's day one wrapped up. Who knows what tomorrow holds? Stick around to find out.
