Let's talk about the game.

Hi everyone! As i said Wednesday, this week i was going to talk about how the game's development is going, so let's get started, shall we?


What i learned:

Currently i'm at a very different stage from when i started development, at the beginning the game only had a couple of choices and dialogue, and that seemed very bland to me, however at the current stage it has some mechanics that I think will help in your immersion.


The dialogue:

This part is what i had the most difficulty with, i can't remember how many times i deleted an entire plot from the game just to rewrite it again and again, i also ended up deleting 2 possible routes that didn't make sense in a narrative way, they will be available in a future version of the game, but under different circumstances.

The game currently has more or less 23k words written, and I know it may not seem like much, but the game is still in its early stages, as time goes on I will update and add more stories.

Choices:

I'll try to keep this short since there's isn't much to talk about, choices are choices haha. So to no one's surprise, the game will have choices, but I would like to talk a little about another type of choice, the mirror choices.

The mirror choices:

Mirror choices are choices that interfere not with the current story, but with the future or past story, I will try to explain it better with an example. "Your character chooses to give an item to another character in Aika's story, but the consequences of that action will only appear in Mary's story." These consequences range from a simple change in the dialogue, to a complete change in the plot, characters that were previously enemies become friends, and this opens up a new route in a story that you have already played before.

Now let's move away from the story and its characters, and instead focus on the game itself.


The game has a gallery, a biography room, and i think i might add achievements to the game too, but it's not a priority currently.

Awesome GUI and sprites! I often struggle with making the plot work, too. The perfectionist in me keeps me from writing anything, lol.
