Devblog #1 I entered a new game jam

For the record, I don't even know if I'm gonna finish the game I'm working on, I haven't even given it a name yet, but wish me luck. A few days ago, I entered the  Goedware game Jam (a game jam is game development contest), the theme of the Jam is ''consequences'' (meaning you have to make a game based on that theme), and as you can interprete the theme in different ways. I was already planning to make a shoot'em up game with a NES style, and this jam ended up being the perfect excuse to get to work.

But how do you do a game like that based on ''consequences''. I came out with some ideas: 1, adding branching paths, depending on the direction you go, you get to experience different levels; 2, the game will have RPG features, like a level-up system, but you have to decide to increase only one of three stats (you better make the rights decision); 3, you either play well and save your kidnaped love interest, or you don't play well and see a ''cutscene" where you die and a text tells you that your lover is going to die too, also you start over the game because you have to face the ''consequences'' of your poor decision making and lack of skills. The game will be very short tho.

I don't know how I'm going to implement all those mechanics, because so far the game is at a very early stage of development and I only have 6 more days to finish it.  You can see how little I have in this youtube video: <a href="<a href=" https:="" studio.youtube.com="" channel="" ucwfg50lhvj4mfv1lcrupbzq="" videos="" upload?filter="%5B%5D&sort=%7B""></a>
