Plague-Slinger DevLog(1-4)

So, one DevLog to rule them all. This here is my Final Project for my 6 month boot camp with Circuit Stream. In may of 2023 I started this course while having 0 background in coding and have struggled my way to the end but have not given up.

I was originally supposed to make several devLogs over the course of the project but I didn't find out about this part of the assignment until January 3rd.

In the first 2 weeks I spent most of my time refactoring and recycling code from earlier projects, Knowing that I wasn't gonna be able to handle this project unless I took as many little things as I could. I ended up getting the movement down pat, the *very* basic AI working and even animated the revolver for when it shoots and when it reloads.

The third week wasn't very good for me, I made very little progress. I was struggling on finding assets for my game and that was all I could focus on. I got help from my Instructor Lee and was able to get that western town from the first level imported into unity. Followed by some particle effects (mist) and then playing with the lighting till I got the atmosphere I wanted. At the end of this week I was already falling behind where I wanted to be.

4th week, This is where I managed to get most of project done. after some not so minor set backs (lost a total of 5 hours of in editor work due to  2 separate crashes) I found enough energy to get stuff *done*. I started squashing bugs(almost all of them little, nothing game breaking but enough to make note of) I learned how to use the terrain tool(s) and began working on my gameState machine.  I managed to implement it with very minor issues and then ironed out those minor issues themselves. Between making a second game level, getting sound effects,  editing the sound effects, Making a finite state machine to manage game flow, getting scene management down, and more I really pushed myself and learned more about unity as a whole.

and that's that, I spent a month tackling this project alone while juggling work and some health issues, I'm proud that I finished it, on time. However, I wish I could have achieved more. I am still learning and growing so I ain't gonna beat myself up to much.
