A New Beginning (FINISHED)

Project Finished!

I have published the base game. The second version with mini games will be published next week.

Update #2!

I'm currently adding the audio for the game.

The voice lines will be in Romanian.

I have decided to release the game in episodes, rather than one big project.

I am doing this because I fear that if it will be too big to handle I might mess up the code somewhere.

This means the game will be released sooner and in two flavors:  a free version which only has the stand alone game, and another version which will cost 1$ and includes this game and a few mini games which will help with practicing all the words from the base game.

Thanks for reading.

Update!!!

Here's the newest screenshots from the game!

My previous project has been retired due to losing all my work in a power outage.  I am sorry to announce this to anyone looking forward to the Goe game, but sadly that demotivated me from starting over,

Instead, due to good feedback on my first game on Reddit, I have decided to make a Romanian learning game for A1 level.

The story is called A New Beginning because the main character inherits his grandparent's apartment and decides to move to Romania. While he spent part of his childhood living with his grandparents , a lot of his knowledge on the language has faded due to him living in another country. He gets a job as a mailman, goes to Romanian classes in the afternoon, practices his newfound knowledge by making sentences about various objects around his house depending on the daily theme, has a daily event where he gets his chance to practice by engaging in dialogue with characters as well as various other activities.

The pictures shown are of rooms from his apartment building and rooms from his flat.

I don't have an estimate how big this game will be, but I plan to release it by episodes rather than one big game.  The backgrounds are full HD so it will really add up to storage quickly.

Updated on 13 March

Hello, I'm back after dealing with a lot of stuff and I have returned with good news.  I began working on the game again, it already has reached 1 GB.

Some updates: I have made some basic walking animations for the character, speaking animations for the main character, two side character animations.

Unique words used so far are about 600 ( including derivative words).

I have added two dialogs so far, and a video cutscene.

I am unsure when it will be finished, because I don't want the game to get excessively big.

The structure of the game starts like this: you speak to your neighbor, you go inside your apartment to explore and click on objects for the character to make sentences about that object.  This phase is the immersion and accomadtion phase. This game is made for people who already have a few words under their belt so... A1-A2 level .  The sentences are shown in Romanian and English

After exploring your apartment, go to the building hallway, and walk towards go to course.

When you start your course, you see a few images on the screen and by clicking on different interaction buttons, you get different sentences made about thr images. For example, the first page shows a man a woman a girl and a child. If you click the man with the eyeglass, it will say: he is a man. If you click the man with the speech bubble it will say: hello, my name is Christian. And if you click with the hand it will say Goof afternoon.

You keep clicking the various images with these three interactions and when you are finished with a level just click nivelul următor.

After you finish your lesson, a cutscenes begins with an event. The first event is a woman being victim of a robbery on a bus. After the cutscene you have a dialog with a police officer. He takes your statement and you have to give him information about what happened.

After the dialogue, you go home and you get a chance to practice making sentences about objects in your house by saying what color they are. Clicking on the bed will end the day.

That's the structure for day 1. I will update with more artwork in due time as I am away today.
