Project 8: Coin Hoard (Economy)

This is a financial-themed analog game based heavily on the idea of chance and judgement.

Objective: Acquire the most money for yourself and/or make it more difficult or easier for others to enrich themselves.

Recommended Players: Any Number (4 or more are recommended)

Required Materials:

- Any amount of various coins (playing with Quarters (25¢), Dimes (10¢), Nickels (5¢), and Pennies (1¢) is recommended, but it is also possible to substitute these for other small, circular objects equivalent in size, which each have distinct visual differences.)

- A container of some sort (such as a cup) that is not see-through, which has been covered almost entirely, aside from a small opening/slit in the top, which any of the previously mentioned coins could fit through.

Setup/Rules:

1. Find a table or open/flat surface onto which small objects can be easily seen.

2. All the coins being used in the game will be placed inside of the container, which will then be covered, aside from the small opening in it for coins to pass through.

3. One player will start by grabbing this coin-filled container and shaking it, and thereafter flipping it upside-down, after which a coin should fall out. If a coin does not fall out, then the player should continue shaking until one is dispensed. In the case that multiple coins fall out, the lowest value coin shall be kept by the dispensing player.

4. Once a coin is released from the container, this coin then goes into the player's monetary stockpile, which is simply and ideally just a small section of the playing space near the player that all of their money is located in. This stockpile should be easily visible to all players.

5. After the first player has dispensed a coin, they can then decide to pass the container in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise (left) direction to the player sitting next to them. However, all following container passes will go in a clockwise (right) direction, aside for in some special cases, which I'll mention below. (If there are less than 3 players, then you just always pass the container to the other player at the end of each turn.)

6. The game ends when all the coins have been emptied from the container, and the player who has the highest valued coin stockpile (a stockpile whose coins add up to the great amount of money) by this point is the victor.

Special Abilities:

[APPLIES IN GAMES WITH ANY NUMBER OF PLAYERS]

--- Coin Claw - [Coin Pattern Holder]: At any point during the game, if a player has 3 or more of 2 different types of coins at one time, and it is currently their turn, this player can display their coin pattern so others can see proof, and this player can then take 1 coin of any other than these types from 2 different players of their choosing. This action can be performed directly before or after they dispense a coin from the container during their turn.

[ONLY APPLY IN GAMES WITH 3 OR MORE PLAYERS]

--- Coin Current - [Highest Coin Value Player]: Every other turn, the player with the most money (i.e. with the coins that add up to the greatest value), upon receiving the container, can call a coin value assessment between all of the players to analyze each player's wealth, and after proving that they possess the most wealth, this player gains the ability to pass the container in whichever direction they like (to the player left or right of them) or take one of somebody else's coins. Note however that people in possession of the container who would like to take another's coin will need to already have more of the type of coin that they wish to take as the person they hope to take from before they do this.

--- Coin Connect - [Lowest Coin Value Player]: Beginning on the 5th turn, and at any point during this turn, or in successive terms, the player with the lowest overall coin value can call a coin value assessment and wealth analysis among the players, and after proving their lack of wealth, they can then skip receiving/dispensing from the container in this instance and use this turn to request an immediate payment of between 1-3 total coins (no more than 1 of each type) from another player. However, in the event that another player does donate them coins, the amount of coins the player receives is also the amount of successive terms the coin recipient will be excluded from the game. Also important to keep in mind is that if the player chooses to request the most valuable coin that the donating player owns, by itself or along with other coins, that this coin becomes "marked" and can be taken back at any point in the future by its original owner, as long as they are in possession of the container when they perform this repossession.
