Lessons, and New Visions

New Visions

A space themed puzzle-platform/physics game will be revealed after a few months. Say hello to: Little Ball in Space, soon!

Little Ball In Space - Banner Image

A puzzle-platformer set in outer space. Navigate through obstacles and terrain in straight lines, and... little balls? Don’t lose your bearings! Your perspective changes based on the ground you stand upon.

You are a Little Ball in Space. After getting lost in a widespread calamity, you must wander to find the place you called home. Space is a lonely and dangerous environment, and you must take care of the soul inside you.

Lessons Applied.

As much as I love SynergyTD, the ultimate synergy based tower defense, it has its frustrations that hold it back from its true potential. Little Ball in Space (LBIS) is a direct application of removing these frustrations, which are:

1) Scope. With so many towers, the animation, arts, and sounds have been rushed and absent in some cases.
1- Solution) LBIS is much smaller, so it is much more manageable. All relevant aspects of the game has sound effects, unlike SynTD.

2) SynTD has a very steep front/beginning, as everything has been provided. The tutorial is not very helpful either.
2- Solution) LBIS has a gentle, campaign-like progression. Mechanics are introduced (shown/experienced, not told, when possible) in a span of time.

3) In SynTD: Tower's purposes and strengths are not intuitive, as they are not grounded to reality. Mechanics are outlandish.
3- Solution) Since LBIS is physics-based, the consequences of actions are much more intuitive and predictable. It makes sense.

SynTD...

Will be shelved until when I feel like it. The love and effort required by SynTD is far beyond my capability, due to the scope. Till next time.
