A long time ago, a man found a strange device. It didn’t look like anything we could find on Earth so he instantly assumed it was an alien artifact. After some fiddling, he found a way to activate it and was immediately transported to another world.

In this world, he could interact with the inhabitants which happen to be anime characters. Using his wit and the artifact, he took lewd pictures of those anime characters and brought them back to our world. He sold them as his own drawings and quickly became rich and famous. He became known as the master hentai drawer and kept the existence of the artifact secret for his whole life.

As he became older, he started looking for an apprentice to entrust him with the device. He finally found somebody worthy and gave him the device. It’s the beginning of the game “Anime World Photographer”.

Sadly, his apprentice wasn’t careful enough which led to the government finding out about the ancient alien artifact. They seized it and asked their best researchers to investigate it. The technology was too complex, they had no idea what they were doing and eventually, most of them gave up. Stored in a secret basement, only the most powerful and influential persons on the planet could still get access to the device. They used it for recreational purposes. For example, they could try living “15 days as a ninja”.

The few remaining researchers who investigated the device had a brilliant idea, it was to ask the most knowledgeable people in the anime world, that is to say, the great wizards. After learning about the existence of Earth, the great wizards tried to open a portal to it. But they couldn’t open a large enough portal as there was nobody on Earth to help them on the other side of the portal. They thought they would fail to create a large enough portal but they actually succeeded because on Earth, some descendants of the Aztec society detected the magic portal and started communicating with the wizards. With their help, the Aztec society managed to get their own pseudo-portal to the anime world and they used it to gather resources with the help of their inhabitants which they named Chara because the name “anime characters” was too long and the secret Aztec society didn’t watch anime anyways. You can see the life of such a Chara trainer in the game “Explore with Charas”.

Time passes on Earth (and in the anime world as well but at a different speed) and a gigantic streaming platform known as Netflux arises. Netflux didn’t make anime, they made only live-action. Those were hugely popular and people stopped watching anime which crushed the industry. With no more anime being made, the Charas had nothing left to do in the now unwelcoming place that became the anime world and they fled to Earth. It was at this time that the general population learned about their existence. There were now over two thousand Charas on Earth and here, they lived their own life like in the game “Relay Swimming”.

But Charas were not satisfied living a normal life. Back in the anime era, they were very popular and lived their life in luxury. So some started looking for high-paying jobs like in the game “Anime Spa”. But those places didn’t last long. They closed down as the anti-prostitution law got stricter and stricter every year, patching the numerous loopholes.

For those Charas, it was back to square one. But some noticed something, it was not so much the luxurious life that they missed, it was the popularity. So they tried to renew their relationship with their public which are known to be otakus (anime geeks). That’s why when Charas were contacted to be part of the collectible card game CardMaster, a lot of them were looking up to it. The partnership was a success and they sold a lot of cards as you can see in the game “Chara CardMaster”. However, the manager of this company was not very good and eventually filed for bankruptcy.

The bankruptcy was not really sad for those Charas because they had a new goal. They wanted to be popular not only among otakus but with the rest of the population as well. So a lot of Charas started setting up OnlyLove pages and tried to become popular this way. They were not successful, most of them had very few subscribers which was disheartening to see. That’s when the legendary photographer started the mansion program: A program made to help the Charas that joined become more popular. The program was very successful as you can see in the game “My Chara Mansion”.

Copying the success of the mansion program, a lot of other initiatives were launched and a lot of Charas became hugely popular. This is known as the golden age of Charas. However, this was also a catastrophe. Of course, the Charas enjoyed their new popularity but their image was stained forever. When in a poll, the surveyors asked “What comes to your mind when I tell you the word Chara?”, people would instantly answer “sex”, “porn”, or “lewd”. Almost nobody would associate them with the lost art called anime anymore… TO BE CONTINUED
