Hello!

If you've seen my "Big Announcements!!" post, you know that I'm doing NaNoWriMo, and that I have to write 50,000 words in 30 days.

My plan is to take all the writing, and plug it into a VN that I'll make for Christmas!

An epic plan to make a visual novel that's actually... well, a novel!

I wanna give you a short synopsis of the novel, as well as show character designs.

My hope is to build interest for the coming Christmas VN!

The Characters

There really isn't much story in this novel without the characters, so... I'll show them, first!

Though I'm pretty sure I won't change much about them, still keep in mind that these are concepts I've made early in development.

The one on the left is Cedrick! His full name is Cedrick Hartmann.

The one on the right is Lixue! His full name is Lixue Shen.

Without getting into too much stuff (more will be explained in the synopsis), their dynamic is... very unlike what I'm used to writing!

This is because Lixue hates Cedrick, and Cedrick is afraid of Lixue.

I have 50,000 words to explain how they go from completely incompatible to in love with each other... I can do it, right??? 😅

The Story

This is where I think things get interesting!

Synopsis (Work-in-progress)

"Cedrick struggles to escape his troubled past from high school. He used to be a bully, terrorizing Lixue (the foreign boy in his class) for fun. Now out of high school, Cedrick’s trying to have a change of heart."

"Can he escape the shadow of his youth? What will happen when they have an unlikely and unwanted reunion for the holidays?"

So... this is my first time making a sort of "redemption arc" for a character... and it's for the main character!

I wanna mention that it's really awkward when the story on paper is basically: "Bully and guy he bullied fall in love with each other!" It's not that kinda story, I swear- 😹

Things don't get romantic until... way past anything I've written so far, hahah! I'm making it realistic for the relationship that they have in the beginning.

Final Thoughts

I want to keep these things brief, so I can hear what YOU think! :D

Are the characters neat? Are they terrible?? Is the story neat??? Is the story terrible????

I'm trying to be more transparent with the stuff I make... which is hard for me, because I really like having the surprise of a new thingy come out.

But, my hope is that, by doing stuff like this, I can build excitement for my game!

With that, I'm off to write a copious amount of words while listening to Christmas music in early November! XD
