The Mansion: Post-Testing Updates

Since running a test session last Friday I gained a bevy of useful data to help reshape some elements of The Mansion.

The first and most essential fixes I made were to two particular levels, level 6, which had a very easy out of bounds clip, and level 7, which at the time of the first test was literally impossible, I have since updated both levels to patch these bugs (in subsequent testing sessions another out of bounds clip was found which will soon be patched).

Another notable thing that was causing multiple players distress was a few mistakes made in the order of appearance for the levels, specifically the first level which was deemed too hard by many due to the requirement of having to learn to properly position blocks at the same time as learning the basic mechanics, for this reason I have changed the order of the levels slightly to better ease the player into the game's system.

One final update was to add a main menu screen with a dedicated control scene including helpful graphics to explain which objects are which, and to let the player become accustomed to the game with a miniature playable version in the bottom right of that screen, this is due to a disconcerting number of players (63%) who only somewhat understood the mechanics of the game, the addition of a stress-free environment in which to read about and play the game (with a couple of fun Easter-eggs in the game's title) will drastically increase the number of players who understand the game from the get-go.
