BlokhedJelli -Pili Needs More Personality! [DevLog #11]

Happy Thursday folks!

This week I fixed some bugs with the text box and gave Pili some more love!

His dialogue got some tweaks and I gave him a neat little intro with him flying in!

I painted out his body shape in one layer


Then the arms and leaves

I also gave him a smile to keep in line with his character

And finally the legs




Now before I finalized the shapes and colors, I wanted to make sure that his intro functioned like it should.


I got the path functioning with him landing in place, but something was a little off.  So I went back and changed the speed and timings.


I was happy enough with the fixes that I decided to go forward with the intro.
So I went back into Aseprite to finish the texture. Because I didn't want to spend too much time on animating the texture, I decided to just animate the hair; so knock that out first.


Here is the rough finish:


It was a little wacky, but it was fine for the moment. 
Time to add the details, starting with his leaves!


Then the legs


Then body!


And we can't forget our flappy friend!


The complete animation!


And with that done, I went back into Godot and tweaked it.

Version A:  The player pauses for a second right before Pili lands.


Version B:  The player can still move past him.


And that folks, is how I gave Pili a quick intro!
