Halloween is coming a little early this year! Your Shadowdark game can have a new treat: the thrice-curst cultist! And what, you may ask, does a thrice-curst cultist look like? This is a Shadowdark game: we’ve got a random table for that. Roll a d4:

1. Tattooed, pierced, scarred, or all three. This cultist has wrought the flesh of their body into a temple to their dark and unwholesome god.
2. Morbidly obese and grotesquely flabby. This cultist seeks to devour the world for their Chaos god.
3. Lean and gaunt, this cultist is slowly being consumed by the dark power they serve.
4. This person seems perfectly normal until you see the crimson sparks of madness swirling in their eyes.

But I should also mention the thrice-curst cultist comes with a trick, too. What happens when the thrice-curst cultist finally dies? We’ve got a table for that, too! Roll a d4.

1. The body is consumed in black flame. All within Close take 1d6 damage
2. The body deliquesces into corrosive acid. Unless it was magical, the weapon that reduced the zombie to zero hit points is destroyed.
3. Red and black centipedes pour out of the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth of the body. They coalesce into a centipede swarm (P 201 Shadowdark core) which attacks the nearest target for one round before dispersing.
4. The body dissolves into a bilious green stinking mist. All mundane torches within Near are snuffed out.
