This week's reading really was shown in our lectures this week. We took already existing games and used the skills of a game designer to make them our own. We tested and learned through the games on what is best for the game. In our book it talks about “The way a designer represents their playspace and how they let players move within it impacts what the player will do and how they will perceive the game and make decisions about what they want to do.” This to me is what I felt like we did as a class. We took the games and looked them through the eyes of the designer plus the player. For example, the murder mystery game we did, we walked through what would be best for a player like what the killer should do or what the detectives should do. I feel like this was a great experience for my future work for this class, to help me see what a player may see but also what I as the designer sees as well. This is very new for me. I have never experienced making a game so the reading and what we have done in class really help me with the ideas I want to make. Overall, this week was very productive as the learning process of making and designing my very own game.
