Devlopment of Milvord: An Open-World RPG

Hello Everyone,

I am a new developer on Itch.io as of...now, but I have a project in the works that is progressing nicely. I am here to introduce it. The game is currently in the pre-Alpha stage of development as I am still establishing database entries and creating some of the entries to have them do what I need them to. It's codename is currently Project Milvord and will be an open-world turn-based RPG with a narrative better described on my Itch page. As of September 2nd the following features have been created:

  • Character Classes
  • Item Functionality (Items, Weapons, Armors)
    • Items Themselves
    • Crafting Materials and Recipes
  • Basic Battle System (more stat stuff to do here)

Currently, I am in the process of organizing the story and fleshing out the concepts there, designing the skills, spells, and advancement systems (there are 2; Mastery Levels and Skill Trees).  The next item on the roadmap is the enemy design (which is going to take forever because of the custom stat system), which I would describe as a "D&D/Baldur's Gate 3-style" system using smaller values with a random multiplier to determine the total damage dealt versus one set value for damage.

This is the rest of the planned roadmap to a beta release:

  1. Enemies
  2. Reputation System
  3. Mapping & Lighting
  4. Sound
  5. Miscellaneous Asset Design
  6. Testing
  7. Debugging
  8. Beta Testing
  9. More Debugging
  10.  Final Release (0$ (forever) here on Itch.io because Steam is too expensive :(

I look forward to being able to provide a finished product and hopefully one that does not fall into the well-known "unfinished indie project bin" nor under/overdeliver on what I have listed here. I hope this game will continue to grow with any feedback your can provide or any advice that may give me a better understanding of what you want from the game. Many thanks!
