Overview

-Brief description of the game concept and main objectives:

Shuttle Runner or Red Pilot Runner is  an  Infinite runner game of a pilot trying to get to his destination and amidst all odds, he has to dodge alien obstacle viruses in the sky .

-Target audience and intended platform(s)

Shuttle Runner is for both kids and adults, and it can be played on Windows PC  and newer versions of windows 11 and 86/64 bit

Story

-Background and context for the game world

Endless runner or infinite runner is a subgenre of platform game in which the player character runs for an infinite amount of time while avoiding obstacles.

-Main characters and their roles

The main Character is called Red pilot and his roles is to Avoid Impact with alien viruses sent to stop him from getting to his destination.

-Plot summary and significant plot points:

The plot in which the player character is trying to escape the alien virus  which has taken oven the sky,  Red Pilot will find every means by using his skills and ability as a pilot to evade the evil geniuses of the alien virus that has taken over earth.


Gameplay Mechanics

-Overview of core gameplay mechanics and  Description of specific actions and controls:

The basic game mechanics are to Slide up and Slide Down, every obstacle is either slide up or slide down to avoid impact with, Obstacles come from the top front and Bottom front  of the screen in 2D , and you have to act fast to avoid them. On top of these simple mechanics I added material spores to make the background or sky look real clustered with viruses. 

-Explanation of player progression and rewards:

The player (Red pilot) gets High scores as rewards as he evades obstacles that are aiming directly at him. 

-Additional gameplay features (e.g., mini-games, puzzles, etc.): there are none so far


Art Style and Aesthetics 

The first step in designing a game is to create a game concept. I wanted to create an endless runner because it is a compelling  Story, My goal was to create an endless runner Pc game that would adjust itself to the players. 

The game allows the player to play a level endlessly until the game is over. 

The game has the feeling, mood, or atmosphere of the artwork, generated by the use of art elements and principles used in the game, as you can see the background resonates with an atmosphere where danger has taken over the clouds and it looks like an impending end for the Shuttle / or Pilot runner.

- Description of significant art assets (e.g., characters, environments, etc.)

The Background depicts the sky which is filled with clouds and virus spores, the main character is the pilot who has a red crash helmet on, and flying above and within clouds, he dodges the alien spores ahead. the alien characters have faces filled with hate for the human race.

Examples of inspiration and visual references: 

What inspired this game was Mario Land  36 golden coins, and Kirby's dream world played on Nintendo back in the early 90s, the visual preferences are from materials gathered online and other games.


User Interface and User Experience

I wanted to design the game controls to be easy to learn and give the player a sense of control over the game.

Keyboard: A Pc game controlled with Up and Down Keys on the Keyboard.

While designing game mechanics, I considered all of the games cited in other most played games of the endless runner genre, Which have Menus and I decided that I wanted to create actions that the players are familiar with and not to create any difficulty bias caused by the player’s inability to learn or understand them. I decided to use Two basic actions :

UP: The player moves up the lane to the Top. and,

 Down: The player moves one lane to the Bottom.

To conclude, it is essential to define the main game loop, which should describe the players’ primary interaction with the game and its goals. The loop starts with the players entering the game. In the game, it starts Immediately , and  they will be presented with an Impending attack of alien virus after 6-9 seconds of starting the game. 

The progress towards the Start of the game condition will be visible to the players, making the level goal clearly defined .
