Hello, I am another indie game dev that wishes to post a few dev blogs of my game as I finish it.
So far I have spent around 3 months making Spirit Dwellor.
What has been made so far:
- Starting screen when you load into game. Allows you to exit the actual app or enter the game. The settings part doesn't do anything yet but I will make some things customizable in the future for example, the volume.
- I've created a screen where you will be able to make a new world or play one already created but I haven't actually made the saving or loading of anything.
- Game screen that has the actual in game stuff that has been implemented so far.
The game stuff in game screen:
- Health and Damage systems for the enemy and the player.
Levelling system that needs more work as currently all you can really do is gain soul power ( Soul Dweller's form of experience ) and that doesn't do anything so far.
- Attempted to make inventory slots but the selecting doesn't work very well so I decided to work on more important things.
- Respawn screen that will allow you to respawn or exit. Exit feature works but respawn button still needs more working on.
- Player can move around and wall jump. Wall jump still needs a bit of tweaking to allow a smooth movement but the actual player movement looks and feels pretty good.
- I've begun making procedural generation that has been giving me some issues as it can only go up to stone layer without breaking. I will be trying to fix this the next few days.
- I also began a player interactable text system but have also been having issues with that
- Spirit Dwellor includes an attribute system that allows you to choose a certain ' attribute ' which is more like choosing your class. The game takes this input but doesn't use it for anything yet.
It isn't quite as much progress as you would expect in 3 months since I've just started my game journey and I've only had around 1 hour per day to work on it. I do try to get something done or fixed each day but sometimes I need more time so I spend a few days on one feature. I also spent a lot of time on figuring out how to make buttons work and register the input, a lot longer than I wanted.
