Update on things.

Hello!

I thought I'd give blog posts a go so, here I am. Today I'm going to show you some interesting behind the scenes details on the game's I've created and sneak peaks of those I haven't quite yet finished.

References/inspirations

Quite a few of my released games have inspiration taken from other people's games or even just music and graphics in general. In fact, some even directly reference pop culture.

The biggest examples can be found in my game Death-Defying Cannibal Uprising. (https://blightworks.itch.io/death-defying-cannibal-uprising)

Death-Defying Cannibal Uprising references

Level 2 is directly referencing Donkey Kong with the iron girders and barrels, that the humans throw often.

This is done throughout pretty much the entire game... Mainly due to the fact that it's a very retro and arcade-like game in the first place.

There are definitely more obscure references though... For example.. Level 4 is based on a strange Eddsworld flash game called "Bang Boom Splat" and Level 1 references Cactus' Keyboard Drumset Fucking Werewolf game. In fact, I'd say my game is very similar to his.

Air Death Show's Inspiration

Air Death Show (https://blightworks.itch.io/air-death-show) was initially inspired by a game called "Air Pirates" that was cancelled , developed by Cactus. But eventually, my game turned into it's own strange little project...

The art style was a complete accident in fact, the colours at first were chosen randomly but eventually I realised they followed some colour theory rules so I went all in for that and the blocky graphical style.

SNEAK PEAKS!

Commodore 64 styled platformer/shooter.

I have a few ideas for projects but the most complete one right now is a Commodore 64 styled platformer/shooter.

It is planned to feature 6 levels, a level editor and hopefully an original SID chip soundtrack. So far, one level is complete and a level editor is fundamentally complete. A soundtrack could be coming after all levels are complete.

It's temporary name is "SID Commandeer c64" but i'm considering the name "Rail Rampage C64".

N64 Styled Platformer

This is an interesting project that I feel stumped with making, it's tough and annoying to work with. But I think it could have some potential.

Not quite sure about it...

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you've read this far then thank you <3

This is my dream and I'm happy to already have made it this far. I hope you're excited for any future games and please leave comments on any games you end up playing. Feedback is much appreciated and helps me more than you can imagine. Thanks for sticking around, goodbye!
