Night Shift - Development Log 1

Hi everyone,

Or nobody, which at this stage in my logging is more than likely.

This development log thing is more for me than anyone else really though. Hopefully, it'll give me the motivation to continue creating and adding to my game titled 'Night Shift'. A horror-ish title following one unfortunate employee named Max and his descension into the horror, weirdness, and utter hopelessness of the night-shift.

'After being late for work one too many times, the boss Frank decides to stick Max on the night-shift for one-night. Little does he realise, that the night-shift is a nightmare fuelled landscape fraught with danger, the supernatural, and a demonic presence.'

So what am I doing now?

Right now, I've created the bare bones of a demo and will shortly be releasing it. It's clunky and unpolished, but I feel that once I get it out there I can get some real feedback and make some major improvements. I'm using a fair few plugins, most of which I'm still learning how to get the best from!

What's next?

I'll release the demo first whilst making improvements and gaining a better understanding of the tools I'm using. So far, I'm happy with the character animation (using MOG's character motion for the breathing effect, Kage Desu's AnimaX for the added mouths when speaking). I plan on having the characters blink too when they're idle.

I'm also debating what kind of windows to use for the messages too. I do like the current setup, but I feel it could do with something more! Happy for suggestions!

Below is a small demo of an interaction between Max and Selena.
