A cool little project on spaceships...

I'm going to let you in on a little secret: I'm not great at marketing.

I love writing, I love designing games, and I think that enjoyment makes me better at it. I do not enjoy promotion and advertising and telling every stranger I meet how great I am, so... it's probably understandable that I'm less good at that aspect of game publishing.

This is my roundabout way of telling you about SHIPS: HOW TO BUILD AND BLAST THEM.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crankshaft/ships-a-supplement-on-spacecraft-for-termination-shock

TERMINATION SHOCK is my science fiction roleplaying game of being confused humans adrift in a cosmos with aliens who are comprehensible but really, really different.

Now, most SF games -- especially those that lean towards space opera, which this most certainly does -- put a lot of emphasis on the starships because they're cool and everybody loves them. This Kickstarter is for the book on starships, but it's a lot more than a list of stats and comparisons. It covers...

  • * How to build and model a ship in the TERMINATION SHOCK mechanics
  • * Lots of interesting ship systems you can install, because gear is a huge part of space opera
  • * Combat rules -- and I prioritized giving everyone something to do in a battle, so that cooperation is crucial
  • * Attention to the history, origins and design of a craft, as avenues to make it feel vivid and real at the table

If you haven't already got the game, that's actually great, because we designed this project to be an easy way to get into TERMINATION SHOCK. There's a nice low tier where you can, if you wish, just get the rules as a PDF at a price break.

But, something you gotta know... this is closing down in three days. So don't delay. Get TERMINATION SHOCK. Get SHIPS. You won't regret it.

-G.
