Speakeasy: A demo update [Post #3]

Hello all! Lux here.

This is my first time introducing myself in one of our devlogs, so it’s nice to meet you! I’m the programmer and co-writer with Aura on Speakeasy here at Open Late Games.

Let me just say… We’ve been busy around here. We are hard at work to bring you a spectacular demo that really captures the essence of our full game. Aura is doing amazing things with our background art and UI, Riss is somehow managing to knock it out of the park with every new sprite, and I am relentlessly coding away!

Working on the demo has had me read and reread our full length route scripts, and it really makes me think about how each of these characters is like a real person to me now. They feel like family. I love making Milo come to life onscreen with his brawling prowess, or having Dahlia and Vin bicker over interior decor. It feels like watching my babies grow up. Is that weird? Maybe a little, but I love it regardless.

Updates on the demo itself: the entire script is coded and working well with no bugs (for now). We’ve integrated a gorgeous UI and everything from the soundtrack to the backgrounds are starting to come together. Right now, I’m working on fine tuning all those critical details that will do so much to elevate the demo as a whole. I’m also working on adding a few more — ahem — adult scenes, that I feel our players deserve even just in this first taste of Speakeasy.

But the bulk of the demo is done and programmed — now comes those critical finishing touches and testing. Your patience will pay off very, very soon.

Xoxo,
Lux
