Trying out Pixel Art, Simple Animations, and Isometric Art

Hello!

Posting here again to update on some of my progress. I've been focussing on my art lately and trying to get used to the style I would be using for future game projects. I started off using the PixelArt website to try out drawing some pixel art and creating some GIFS using the site as well. I only had my house to work on the pixel art stuff so it was mostly just seeing how it would all work, but it was pretty fun!

Here's what I created:

Obviously not the most beautiful creations in the world, but it was fun to see what was possible. I think the dog turned out the best out of all of them!

After playing around with the pixel art website, I watched a couple of dev logs on YouTube and saw some creators making art for their games and it really inspired me.  It made me realize that realistically, I should learn or at least practice drawing isometric buildings and characters etc. I also got a pen to use with my computer - it's a touch screen - which means I can actually put a little more effort into what I'm drawing. Here's what I created on PixelArt:

I'm super happy with this since it's a pretty rough drawing, and I can definitely see myself improving with kind of drawing. I decided to switch to GIMP and try out doing a slightly more detailed, non-pixel-art isometric house. This is what I made:

This one definitely has a more top-down perspective, but I think it came out really well. I also played around with a bit more shading and a textured outline to see how it looked. I think the colours and shape are a little boring, but pretty good for a first proper attempt!

Anyways, that's all I have. Since it seems like my coding progress is on hold now (I'll probably try to pick it up again next week), I'll keep trying with the art, maybe I'll focus on trying to draw some isometric characters and animate them and see what I can do. I find it way harder to draw characters than buildings, so we'll see how it goes.
