Devlog # 4: So Much Coding!

March was spent doing a whole bunch of coding! And not just visual novels either! I, at long last, have a website!

It currently acts more like a linktree/caard site since it links to my other socials, but I intend on making it into a portfolio site for my art in the future. It's been long due and super daunting since I made the decision to code everything myself instead of use pre-made sites, but I'm happy with how it currently is! I'm also surprised that my vn coding skills came in handy since I'm not a programmer by trade. I'm self taught and just really like the problem solving involved with coding lol.

Speaking of which, I started doing what I've wanted to do with my own visual novels: giving them a UI update that includes all the stuff I find is nice in a visual novel! Yes that includes my Ren'Py Save/Load Overhaul, but when I was updating my games with the framework I created I found a bug where if there's a tag in the text grab and it gets cut by the character limit, then it creates an error that doesn't let you into the save/load screen at all. But the error got promptly fixed, and I would like to give a big thank you to Feniks for pointing out which code will fix the error!

The Queer Edition of O2A2 2023 is coming up and I plan on participating! I mention this because in preparation, I've been starting the GUI overhauls for my smaller VNs, as you may have seen with the updates 2.0 for Miss Chocolate Eater, n e g a t i v e s p a c e, andNo !@#$s Left to Give. The UI used on my smaller games is actually a framework I've built that I'm planning on using for all my games, whether they're old or new or in progress, so Wolf’s Wool and Pillars on Poppy Hills will eventually get this treatment too! It’s just that both of those games are larger and slightly more complicated to update, so it’s going to take longer to get their updates done. I was hoping to get either of them done by the end of April, but I honestly don’t foresee either of them being done in time since I’ll be making a new game in that time, so oh well!

That’s all I’m reporting for now! Keep an eye out for my upcoming game for O2A2 2023 ~ Queer Edition, and I hope you have not only a wonderful day, but a wonderful month as well!
