News/Updates from Inheritance:Ladeina's Path

We hope you are doing great. We shared the progress in the discord server, however we did not publish any news on Patreon or Steam.

We know you are waiting for a release time and maybe, you might want to hear about the implementations.

Charity for the Turkey/Syria Quake

Our project manager lives in Turkey and was affected by the quake. He and his family are fine but the disaster hit them emotionally. We decided to help the victims of the disaster. News Inside

Long story short, we want to release the new build in March. If we don’t run into any unexpected issues, we will be ready to release at the end of March. We are working very hard and as you know, we all want to release the game but since it has different locations and some complex logic, we may need time for testing sessions.

As we promised, the build will be first released to patrons. After the Patreon release (1 week), we are going to release the build on Itch.io and Steam. The build will be free.

With the release, we are also going to update the Content DLC with new additions.

Game Play

We added some small but important mechanics:

  • Assassination: Astarte will be able to crouch in silence and perform an assassination attack on unsuspecting enemies.
  • New execution animations: Astarte will be able to perform different execution attacks
  • Falling Damage: Astarte will take damage if she falls from a great height.
  • Damage effect on Astarte’s Body: According to the level of damage, Astarte will have different damaged skin effects
  • Equip Items / Rings: We decided to add more depth when upgrading the character’s stats. Astarte will be able to acquire and equip various special items.
  • Improvement on Range Attacks: Quick release and improved aim feature is added. With this, we are planning to improve the ranged attack experience.
  • Navigational area is expanded by 7x.
  • Heavy, Lunge Attacks will consume stamina and without enough stamina, Astarte won’t perform special attacks.
  • Two mini puzzles were added.

Narrative and Lore

We worked diligently to find the best way to tell Inheritance: Ladeina’s Path’s story. We want to view Astarte as Lara Croft, Geralt of Rivia, etc. And we want the players to enjoy their time while walking the path to Astarte’s destiny.

  • Players can find ancient book pages around the world to solve the mysteries of the past.
  • We added some cutscenes to explain about the story, locations and people.

CutScenes

  • As we promised, three cutscenes were added.
  • In the future, our plans will be different but in this stage, we have to focus on the game mechanics. If the game is going to be like our expectations, our cutscene feature will be improved and will have options for the player to design the scene. But for now, we had to focus on what we could do.

Sound Fx / SoundTrack

  • We have created 4 OST for levels (1 is for combat) and 1 OST for the opening scene.
  • We changed and improved nearly every sound effect on game objects, ambience and specific items.
  • Astarte’s sounds are recorded and improved.

User Interface

After the first release, we had a lot of feedback related to UI and UX .

  • General Improvement of the UI, bug fix
  • GamePlay options are extended
  • Graphics option are extended
  • Character Customisation Feature is improved
  • Sound Settings are improved
  • Game Feature is improved

The Road Map

With this release, we are going to complete the second step of the release strategy plan. This step is really important because this is the last step before we go bigger. With this build we are going to complete episode 1.

This build is a kind of “hello world” and we have given our best to create it! But please don’t forget, still we are just at the beginning. We want to tell an amazing story of a warrior! So after the release, our future plans are here:

  • Switching to Unreal Engine 5
  • Hire permanent team mates for animation and character creation departments.
  • A detailed Character Customization Feature with different face/hair and appearance options.
  • Adding NPCs to the world such as blacksmiths, merchants, brothel workers and some additional interactive NPCs will be implemented.
  • Approximately one hour of additional gameplay
  • Introduction of Sexual Scene Feature

If the game is going to be like what we expect, we plan to switch to Unreal Engine 5 at the beginning of May 2023. We want to have April for bug fixes and a little break after this hard work!

And if we can be successful with our goals (financial and mental), we are going to be able to release the new build in October 2023. We need a bit of time for this because this build will be the last step before we create the full open world map. Before we can create the open world, we have to be sure about our core features.

Making an A type game (Inheritance is AA title) is a real challenge. And we have to be smart about what we can do, when we can do and what we cannot do. Since we are making this game with a nearly zero budget, we have to be sure about what we have done, before any step for the future takes place. Thank you for your continued support and patience!
