Pix-Quest Exterior and Interior Pack Coming Soon!

Welcome Back!

After quite some time I'm back to release some good news (and a sneak preview!) about the progress on the Pix-Quest series of game assets! INTERIORS AND EXTERIORS are around the corner! This has by far been the most challenging asset pack to design so far, and I've gone through many prototypes along the way before settling on a style which I feel fits best to the style of art in the other Pix-Quest series asset packs. In this devlog I will briefly highlight and preview what I have been working on. If you read through to the end there may be an additional surprise waiting for you!  So let's jump in!

Customizable Exteriors

You heard that right! The upcoming update will not only feature a range of pre-designed building assets, it will also include the layered pieces (building, roof, and building fronts) so that you are able to create a wide range of unique buildings for any top-down projects you might be working on! Below you can see a preview of what some of those assets and the combinations you can come up with look like!

Interiors also around the corner!

In the end, after many trials and lots of pixel art, I've settled with a simple, 5 color option for interior walls and background tiles. This is where a majority of the finishing work lies as I create the asset pack. It has been challenging to create unique tiles which stand out from the background whilst only using a 16-color palette, but I assure you I am getting there! Below is a small preview of some of the tile combinations that will be possible (with many floor and wall tiles still to come, especially floor tiles!)

Your support is greatly appreciated!

Support comes in many forms! While you can always consider donating or purchasing a full version of a Pix-Quest pack, I am really looking for comments, suggestions and requests so that I can make your life as a gamedev easier and more exciting with these assets. Please feel free to leave a comment on this post or any of my projects with requests or wishes for this upcoming pack, or changes to the already available ones! Your ideas and feedback are greatly appreciated!

That's it, or is it?

It has been challenging to put all the pieces of this exterior and interior project together in a way which stays true to the pix-quest series! Because it has taken me more time than originally expected, I thought sharing a project preview and update would be a great way to spread the word about what is next in the pix-quest series! When I set out to create this series I had a big vision, one of the most important of which includes adding NPCs and a full "main character" sprite as well (as well as the already released GUI pack). This is outlined in greater detail in the roadmap I wrote up on the original pix-quest tileset page. I am happy with what I am creating so far, and have decided that after the launch of the exterior/interior asset pack and an NPC pack, I will be finalizing the Pix-Quest series v1. What this will mean is that I will focus afterward on making the project pages more aligned on itch.io, and introducing a sales package for the entirety of the Pix-Quest series to allow creators to get the full versions of all asset packs for a better collective price! What this also means is that I will likely no longer actively develop the Pix-Quest series, but will only do so in the case of users commenting with suggestions or requests for additions to the project.

What's the surprise?

Thanks to those of you who've read this far! The surprise is that once I have released the upcoming exteriors and interiors pack, I will be holding a PACKAGE SALE to celebrate the release! With this, I will combine all three Pix-Quest asset packs for a better collective price. As I appreciate those who follow and comment on my projects, I will likely also share a sale code to get the assets 100% off, so please follow me and share your feedback with me!

Thanks again for reading, and stay tuned for the release soon!
