Target market research is very helpful when it comes to deciding what tools to use to attract the target audience of a product. Using the correct marketing can be key to selling a product to a user, so nailing this step is the first along the path to success. To do this, creating a buyer persona will help massively; A buyer persona is a person that does not actually exist but rather a person who would accurately align with the targeted end-user group (PV Team, 2017). By doing this, it will provide a much deeper knowledge of what marketing tools are to be used to sell the desired product to them (PV Team, 2017). One strong point of information when it comes to determining what kind of gamer the user is would be their Bartle gamer type. The four types of gamers are known as Killers, Achievers, Explorers and Socialisers (Neil Burmester, 2020). This information can help determine what sort of gamer you are targeting, for example a grand open-world game will be very suitable for an explorer type just as a game with a lot of dialogue would be much more suited to a socialiser type.
