For many people, video games are a form of escapism. They offer the opportunity to enter a world where the player can be someone else, do things they might not otherwise be able to do, and experience emotions and adventures that are outside their normal realm of experience. But few genres offer as much of a thrill as the horror genre.

Horror games have been around since the early days of gaming. From the early text-based adventures like "Zork" and "Colossal Cave Adventure" to the more recent releases like "Outlast" and "P.T." horror games have been scaring players for decades.
