I felt like sharing a little pico-8 helicopter combat flight simulator I've been working on.
It's built on top of a flat-poly 3D engine that uses BSP trees for the polygon drawing order, and inspired by memories of playing MicroProse's "Gunship" on the C64.
The helicopter can be fully controlled with the Pico-8 standard arrows and 2 buttons. By default the arrows control the cyclic. Holding button O switches to collective/tail-rotor. Holding X switches to weapons (select target/select weapon). Tapping X fires.
Recent additions are a line-of-sight test that handles mountains and counter measures. This technically rounds off the core gameplay, although there's a ton of balancing to do and it would benefit from a few more enemy types.
I'm planning to release it here when I'm done.
