Hi everyone!
Earlier this month, I quietly put back up some of the Unity projects that I worked on. However, there was a security vulnerability with the Unity engine, including the versions that I used. As the link mentions, there is no evidence of any exploit of the vulnerability. However, it is recommended to update any projects you are working on in Unity, and if available, to update any games made in Unity to the latest patched release.
So I am in the process of taking action, and remedying the problem. When available, please update the games if you currently have them. The following games are being addressed:
Far From The Tree is, as of writing, in the process of being updated. I am going to export a patched version of the game, for all platforms (Windows, Linux, and WebGL). Update (October 9, 2025): The Windows and Linux versions are now patched, thanks to Brandon. The WebGL version is not updated, but that version is not affected by the vulnerability.
Heartbreak is being set to private for the time being, until I can figure out a way to patch this. It was made in 2017, and the Unity editor was only patched back to 2019. The patcher tool they provide would work, but it only affects Windows builds. Heartbreak only has a Windows build, but since the tool also doesn’t seem to run well in Linux via Wine. I will have to get a friend with Windows to help patch it (or get a Windows machine again). Once that is done, I will upload the patched version, and put it back up. Update (October 9, 2025): My friend has tried patching this version, but the Unity patcher tool doesn’t recognize the hash value for the Unity version used (2017.1.0f3). I will look into it further, and see what action should be taken.
Grid System Race has also been removed. I am not a fan of that game, and like other earlier game jam games, do not match the quality expected from myself. I may build a compilation of some of my older games, including this one (but made in Godot), though I cannot confirm that.
In terms of future plans, I continue to use Godot as my main game engine. However, I am not opposed to working in Unity again. The company has changed since my last post, and Unity isn’t a bad game engine.
I can confirm that a new game is in the works. I have been working on it for the past month or so (on and off, so more like a couple weeks worth of work lol). I’ll give a hint: it has to do with the game Heartbreak.
Have fun! -Alex <3
