Starting point

Hello!

About a month ago I finished the fifth ending in NieR: Automata and was captivated. Not just by the story, the questions it raises, the gameplay, or the music (which, by the way, are simply amazing!) — but by how it all came together as a game. It was such a great journey that it reminded me that games can truly be — and are — a great storytelling medium.

I shared this realization (not exactly a fresh one, let’s be honest) with a friend who graduated from art school. She told me that they even had a course on game development, because it’s such an incredible tool to tell stories, show an artist’s perspective, and so much more.

My whole life I’ve struggled with the inability to express myself as a creator, as an artist. I tried many things: drawing, dancing, music, video and photography, writing — but nothing ever fully clicked as a lifelong passion, or felt like my instrument for creative expression, even if I enjoyed them.

And then, after finishing this game (yes, in 2025, lol), it hit me like a lightning: I can try... no, I can make my own game! To tell a story, to express myself, to create something I’ll truly be passionate about. Now we have so many tutorials and so much learning material on how to develop any skill you want. All you need is the desire and the consistency to do it.

I’m not entirely sure how this platform works yet, since I’m new here, but I think it’s a great place to start my journey. In this blog I’ll share my process and my thoughts, and you’re all welcome to join me on this adventure.
