UPDATE (22 Dec 2021):
Wow, thank you so much for all your support! This bundle has gone above and beyond all our expectations (more than $11,000 raised as I write this!), so much so that we are planning to expand its scope to support our friends in the Philippines who are also experiencing a terrible environmental disaster.
Typhoon Odette/Rai has wreaked havoc in the Philippines since it made landfall on 16 December 2021. Our friends in the Philippines have supported us in boosting and supporting this bundle, and we want to support them in solidarity. As such, 30% of the proceeds from this bundle will go towards the Tulong Kabataan Network.
I know this is a change to what you might have initially bought this bundle to support, which is why I am providing this update. We share one world, and climate change and natural disasters do not stop at arbitrary national borders. However, what this event and previous disasters have shown us is that we are strongest when we can lean on each other, when we can help our neighbours as they have helped us. So just as you've helped us in Malaysia by supporting this bundle, we want to support our neighbours in the Philippines. I hope you understand and continue to support our efforts. Thank you.
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Malaysia has experienced severe rainstorms and flash flooding since 17 December 2021, leaving many people stranded and vulnerable. As such, this bundle aims to raise funds for flood relief efforts in Malaysia due to these recent floods.
Proceeds from this bundle will go to Mercy Malaysia's Flood Relief fund.
This bundle collects several games from Malaysian tabletop game designers (Aaron Lim, Alyssa Yeo, Centaur Games, Kristen Chin, Nana, Rick Chia, Samuel Mui Shen Ern, Tun Kai Poh, Valis Teoh and Zuhayri Mohamed), who have generously donated their games to support this fundraising effort. Please do support their games and gamemaking if you are able to.
From previous years' experience, this isn't just a one-off issue. Due to the impacts of climate change and other factors like poor infrastructure upkeep and deforestation, the impact of seasonal rains and floods in Malaysia has been exacerbated in recent years.
Even as we are raising funds for immediate needs, we also urge people who are not able to support our efforts monetarily to do what you can to support efforts to fight climate change and ecological exploitation that leads to these severe weather events.
