I've downloaded 3 VNs at the same time (TSR included), but I can only play 2 of them (TSR not included). I wonder what is the cause. Why every time I open this VN it always comes out (quit) by itself.
When is this game going to be updated? Aren't updates usually like monthly-? If so, at least for this game, then why has it been over a month and a half with no updates-? Not hating or anything like that, merely wondering why it's taking a while, love the game and can't, but sadly have to, wait for more content/story to play! <3 <3 <3 <3

You have to extract the files from the ZIP file they come in. Winrar is usually what people use it. After downloading winrar (free), right click the game and there should be the option to "Extract" the game from the files.

I felt Will = Leo. They're both canines (go ahead and call me speciest, but they also...), have a strong sense of justice, is a leader in their own communities, and fancies the main character. And ofc, they're both big, buff, tall, strong, husky, hunky good bois with guns~
He's always driven by rage in his route tho when it comes to his wife and the town, hallucinations gets the better of him at the cave in the lake (the small fight with nik and william on the bridge) so its better to lay low on your expectations, but who knows :3c

If you haven't read carefully, Will communicated that he actually cared for his wife and child just as a good husband and father is as expected by society. idk, william tends to be careless letting his rage gets on whenever his wife goes in the topic, he receives gratification from sam, yes but i dont think its sufficient enuff, william looks like he lets his guard down on the topics about his wife, the update aint finish besides its only a theory

You tell people to "lay low on expectations," yet you, despite "spoiler warnings" (which is technically not spoiler if not officiated by the devs; thus, borderline fanfiction) constantly project onto other people your expectations regardless of how low it is. Don't get me wrong, I am open-minded, and I love discussions, but I disagree with some of your arguments.
Honestly, I don't feel anything about Nik's route, like I can't seem to connect on an emotional level as I did for Will, Cliff, and Murdoch. Maybe reading the dialogue with Yao felt...forced (using big words) and artificial (monotone) to compensate for a lack of fluency in English while Nik takes a back seat, a third wheel, in character and plot development; to me, it feels more like Yao's route than Nik's route what with the amount of screentime they get, more and less, respectively.
In a sense it’s true but the next public update should be Niks and it’s very exited to see more. I don’t know what’s in the update so I do hope Nik does get more screen time
Nik's is one of the shortest routes currently but will have the largest update on the patreon today. It also changed writers, abruptly, so there's a lot of setup I had to do to establish its direction. But there is a lot more Nik in Nik route coming, don't worry.
His whole route is more or less about echo's working class, so it will have a lot of characters in it before the end beyond just Nik or Yao.
the reason i have a good feeling towards William's route is because it's the only route where Sam, Nik, Cliff, William and Murdoch are all in good terms with each other and with exception of Cliff all know about Sam's secret so if any route has the most potencial for a happy ending ala Jenna's route is this one.

And remember -- TJ went to a Christian university named "CCU" -- and there is a college named Colorado Christian University. So, I believe Chase, Jenna, TJ and Carl went to college in Colorado.

The Development Log doesn't show a consistent track-record of dates. The game gets updated whenever Team Echo feels ready to push updates. No need to be condescending with your "do some basic math".
As I said before, Team Echo updates the game whenever they feel it ready. A "rough average" does not play out here, because since 2021, updates took 1.5 -2 months to be here, while in 2020, they took ~1 month each (with the exception of 1).
So, your "rough average" is between 1 month (at best) to 2 months (at worst), which is a long time in between anyway.
according with The Echo Project Wiki Cliff and Nikolai are from the Echo Universe equivalent of the Netherlands and Poland respectively, but there weren't any links to official sources, Batavia being EchoNetherlands makes sense, Cliff speakes Dutch, he mentions the country being flat and the real life region of Batavia is in the Netherlands, but the only evidence that could find that Lakhia is EchoPoland is that Nik mentions that Lakhia is in Eastern Europe, so is Lakhia Poland or is this a case of wiki vandalism?
So uhh I have one question. On the page for Echo I saw someone mention that McSkinny suggested there is a "recommended" order to play through the characters. And after finishing it I feel like that order was indeed the best choice. Is there also one such (agreed upon) order for TSR? Given that the Echo series seem to have a knack to kill some of the characters, and the fact that Sam, William, and Nick could have died on that so called bridge on the mines (although Sam did died at some point), I'd say I won't get myself too comfortable yet

in the Leo route at the end when you get on the train without him you switch between two people. both cursing echo for hurting them and there friends, one being I'm pretty sure the mc of the smoke room the other obviously being chase. and on that same note, the reason i think its the mc of the smoke room is because he says "curse you for hurting Nikolai, William and Cynthia. (and more but I don't remember the rest because I'm kinda forgetful.) so I think maybe they get injured or someone they love will get injured. but no deaths because I don't think I saw the ???/mc of smoke room state anything about someone dying. i got a save directly on that moment so i might check just to be sure.
Theres quite a few reasons in my opinion to not get emotionally attached to the characters. Echo spoilers
Firstly, In Leo's route in Echo, the voice in Chase's head says something along the lines of "Fuck you for hurting William" and the rest of the characters. Pretty good evidence for pretty much all the routes having no "good" endings.
Echo gives some backstory as to what happened in 1915 mass hysteria (TSR). Echo pretty much went to shit as result of the events in this VN so there is definitely a canonically bad ending.
And of course, the same people who made this VN made Ad Astra and Echo sooo....
Yeah i know. I just recently finished Carl's & Leo's route like an hour ago, and my heart dropped at those lines.
I just can't help it to get attached to them. I mean, how can you just not love William and Nickolai (and Cyntia)? They're like... rare pokémons that needs to be treasured lol
The creators of the Echo series doesn't seem to have "good ending" in their vocabulary. I mean I guess they do, but their type of good ending leaves you questionably happy yet depressing. Its like The Conjuring but with romance and the credit song is WAP but sanged by Celine Dion lol
actually, yes. the main character hears some things, at least I believe he does... from a certain someone. i really dont wanna spoil anything. also the guy who got killed in the mines, isnt that the main thing about this game? the same event chase even went back for (aside from his friends reunion)? also the catalyst of some of the events in TSR?
The actual events of both novels are like decades, if not like almost a century apart, but if I remember correctly, one of the major reasons they are even there in the first place is to learn about the history of the town. Since TSR is part of Echo's history and Echo's "schtick" (for lack of a better word) is that it's essentially some mixture of haunted (by the past), dangerous (because of the people), and the fact that it seems to want to keep people in (the monster the characters in both TSR & Echo seems to have seen but cannot describe), the events in Echo seems to......well...Echo or repeat in the future, which is why all those characteristics of the town are present in all three games: TSR, Echo, and even the newest addition to the series, Arches. Hallucinations, the "it seemed so real" moments, and the fact that no one knows what the hell is going on are all what the town of Echo is known for. So while they don't DIRECTLY influence the events that happen in the future stories, there are certainly allusions to the past through dialogue, characters, and the events that the characters go through and noticeable similarities between everything. (sorry if that confused you/didn't really answer your question)
I think either Echo or the smoke room can be played first (though Echo would be a better start since that game is complete) though in a timeline sense TSR is before Echo

Two reasons:
1. Yagami means "night god" in Japanese, fitting for the theme.

2015 echo was based a mix of echo utah and Nothing arizona.
1915 echo is based more on those plus El Cerro Gordo California.

I wouldn't say so, at least at the moment.. All of the routes are being made parallel to one another.
After this update I think it's a pretty safe guess to say that this game is going to absolutely destroy me by the end lol ❤️

i remember seeing some one point out that in Echo the hyteria fulfills the desires of each character in their route in a twisted way, does anyone think something like that might be happening in TSR
Ugh, I hope so. All of the endings for each character in Echo(except for Carl and Jenna) made me depress. I can already imagine the dark cloud above my head.

I have a bad feeling about how the endings of each or some of the character will be. Like, my gut is telling me to NOT get too attached to the characters (especially William & Nick) ...or else, but my freakin' reproductive system's telling me: NOPE! TOO LATE!
yeah i have a feeling william might get hurt, but something tells me he wont die at least. also yeah same lmao, i finished an ECHO route recently and fucking nearly cried because i was extremely attached to leo ;-;
That's exactly why its been bothering me. I too feel like the potential romances won't die... hopefully. BUT! Given that the Echo series seem to have a knack to kill some of the characters, and the fact that Sam, William, and Nick could have died on that so called bridge on the mines (although Sam did died at some point), I'd say I won't get myself too comfortable yet

in the Leo route at the end when you get on the train without him you switch between two people. both cursing echo for hurting them and there friends, one being I'm pretty sure the mc of the smoke room the other obviously being chase. and on that same note, the reason i think its the mc of the smoke room is because he says "curse you for hurting Nikolai, William and Cynthia. (and more but I don't remember the rest because I'm kinda forgetful.) so I think maybe they get injured or someone they love will get injured. but no deaths because I don't think I saw the ???/mc of smoke room state anything about someone dying. i got a save directly on that moment so i might check just to be sure.
Theres quite a few reasons in my opinion to not get emotionally attached to the characters. Echo spoilers
Firstly, In Leo's route in Echo, the voice in Chase's head says something along the lines of "Fuck you for hurting William" and the rest of the characters. Pretty good evidence for pretty much all the routes having no "good" endings.
Echo gives some backstory as to what happened in 1915 mass hysteria (TSR). Echo pretty much went to shit as result of the events in this VN so there is definitely a canonically bad ending.
And of course, the same people who made this VN made Ad Astra and Echo sooo....
Yeah i know. I just recently finished Carl's & Leo's route like an hour ago, and my heart dropped at those lines.
I just can't help it to get attached to them. I mean, how can you just not love William and Nickolai (and Cyntia)? They're like... rare pokémons that needs to be treasured lol
The creators of the Echo series doesn't seem to have "good ending" in their vocabulary. I mean I guess they do, but their type of good ending leaves you questionably happy yet depressing. Its like The Conjuring but with romance and the credit song is WAP but sanged by Celine Dion lol
Does "standalone" mean that it has no correlation with the events of "ECHO"?
it absolutely has some connection to the events of ECHO, mainly because of some... later things in that game. so prolly not.
Is it directly correlated though? Are there events that happen in smoke room that are part of ECHO's plot? Characters that appear from tsr in ECHO?
actually, yes. the main character hears some things, at least I believe he does... from a certain someone. i really dont wanna spoil anything. also the guy who got killed in the mines, isnt that the main thing about this game? the same event chase even went back for (aside from his friends reunion)? also the catalyst of some of the events in TSR?
The actual events of both novels are like decades, if not like almost a century apart, but if I remember correctly, one of the major reasons they are even there in the first place is to learn about the history of the town. Since TSR is part of Echo's history and Echo's "schtick" (for lack of a better word) is that it's essentially some mixture of haunted (by the past), dangerous (because of the people), and the fact that it seems to want to keep people in (the monster the characters in both TSR & Echo seems to have seen but cannot describe), the events in Echo seems to......well...Echo or repeat in the future, which is why all those characteristics of the town are present in all three games: TSR, Echo, and even the newest addition to the series, Arches. Hallucinations, the "it seemed so real" moments, and the fact that no one knows what the hell is going on are all what the town of Echo is known for. So while they don't DIRECTLY influence the events that happen in the future stories, there are certainly allusions to the past through dialogue, characters, and the events that the characters go through and noticeable similarities between everything. (sorry if that confused you/didn't really answer your question)
What's the correct time lime for the Echo Series? Like, i feel The Smoke Room is the first one, but i'm not sure
I think either Echo or the smoke room can be played first (though Echo would be a better start since that game is complete) though in a timeline sense TSR is before Echo
Echo is set in 2015, TSR is in 1915
Don't forget Arches, game is set in a few years after incident in Echo :)
