This Reminds Me of a Song Jam is a Game Jam for TTRPGs inspired by songs.
What does that mean?
Choose a song and use it to inspire your game. This could mean whatever you want it to - an interpretation of the lyrics into game mechanics, capturing the mood of the music in the game’s tone or setting, writing in the voice of the singer - whatever your song inspires you to create!
Jam Rules:
- Write an analogue game inspired by a song - including the name of the song in the game’s description. These can be unique, standalone games, or hacks, modules, or supplements of existing games (published with permission from the original author, of course!)
- An analogue game is a game that is played in a physical space (or can also be translated into a digital space via a virtual tabletop or video calls) such as board games, LARPs, or tabletop roleplaying games.
- Multiple submissions are welcome!
- Keep safety, accessibility, and communication at the forefront of your designs!
- Utilizing the TTRPG Safety Toolkit, curated by Kienna Shaw (@KiennaS) and Lauren Bryant-Monk (@jl_nicegirl) is highly recommended.
- This game jam is just for fun and there will be no judging or prizes.
- Nazis, racists, transphobes, homophones, and other bigots are not welcome to take part in this game jam. To borrow phrasing from Chris Bissette, if you have to ask whether this statement is about you, it is. Any games with bigotry or promotion of hatred towards marginalized groups will be removed.
- You are encouraged to price your games so that you are properly compensated for your work - but it is not a requirement for submission.
- I also encourage providing community copies so that those facing financial hardship have the opportunity to play your games.
- Feel free to shout about this jam, your ideas, and find others doing the same with the #SongJam tag and please tweet submissions to me at@meghanlynnFTW so I can shout about them!
