----What the heck is this?----
This is the Second Annual Rosebrough Secret Santa Game Jam. The details are all posted in the Discord (link below) so make sure you join that when you register for the jam, otherwise you won't be able to see your prompt!
You will be provided with (and providing yourself) a short prompt and be given 2 weeks to make a game based on that prompt. On Christmas Day the games will all be made visible and you will be able to see what game was made for you based on your prompt.
----Make a game?! With what?----
Anything you'd like, really. There are plenty of pieces of free or paid software to use for digital game development. Unity, Game Maker Studio 2, Unreal Engine, Construct 2, and RPG maker just to name a few. You could even make a physical game if you'd rather (Tabletop game, Role-playing game, Sport, etc).
----I'm not very good at making games/Have never made a game before. Is that okay?----
YES!!! Game Jams are the perfect place to learn new skills and try new things. Plus there will be a Discord full of people ready to help you along the way.
----Okay, so what do we actually have to submit?----
You have to submit a game either playable in browser, an executable for Windows 10 or MacOS, or the rules and assets for a physical game. The game should make use of the prompt provided to you. The game should have around 30 second to 5 minutes of gameplay, just to make sure everyone gets a good chunk of game to play on Christmas.
----What are these 'prompts?'----
This year the prompts will be: 3 words, 1 letter.
You will be writing three words, all starting with the same letter, such as "Aunt, Apple, Airplane" or "Organs, Oregon, Oregano"
You type your prompts into the #personal-prompts channel on our Discord by the end of DEC 9TH.
----When is all this happening?----
I will be giving everyone their Secret Santa on the December 9th. Submissions will be open from December 10th until the end of Christmas Eve.
----What's the Discord Link?----
All participants have to join the Discord in order to share their prompts (plus you can have people to ask for help getting started!)
