About Pride Jam

Pride Jam is a month-long game jam aimed at publishing a set of games on Itch.io while celebrating your authentic self! It starts on June 1st 10am PT and ends til June 30th 11:59pm PT.

Games are an incredible medium to express your pride and creativity. By sharing these experiences, we peer into the LGBTQ+ community and allies and their experiences; and for the players, to sample the stories that many people share.

While this event is not a competition, games submitted will be judged by Gay Gaming Professionals and Unity. Participants will receive a voucher in the Unity Asset Store provided by our supporters, that will help developers and enthusiasts in video game development. 

If you’re a first timer in game jams, don’t worry! We have a repository of resources on our Discord to get you and your team started!

We also have volunteers and a representative from Unity who will provide additional assistance to anyone who needs it!

What is Empowerment?

Empowerment can mean lifting your friends up. It can mean buffing your allies. It can also mean embracing your true self!

As long as we can see that your game is about empowering yourself or others, or the NPCs are empowering each other, your game qualifies!

Who can enter?

Anyone can enter! You can work alone or in a small team. Make sure you have an itch.io account and press the button "Join Jam" on this page to join! 

Don't worry, you are not forced to submit anything after you press the button so go ahead and press it even if you are not sure about being able to join! This event is meant to be stress free and allow creativity to run wild!  

All participants must be in our Discord, get their participation role, and submit a game before the deadline to be able to receive a voucher from us! Join our Discord! 

Make sure you read the rules so you know what's allowed and what isn't! This way you can ask about stuff that's unclear before the jam starts! 

Rules

Like most of the events, there are also some rules you have to follow during the jam at all times.

- No NSFW games!

- Games that are or were made before the jam, are disqualified.

- Show your credits in the description, i.e. names of your teammates, the roles of your team, and preferably the assets you have used.

- You can use any asset (including fonts) from the internet as long as you have the correct license for it, for all your assets. Please list and link it in the Description.

- No assetflips or direct copies of other games. They are automatically disqualified and removed from the jam. Reimagining games is okay!

- Plagiarism is NOT allowed. 

- If you're a beginner, use the tag #beginner to let us know you're a beginner! We want to be able to help our beginners participate.

- The game can be a web or .exe build! Please make sure it doesn’t contain any malicious malware.

- There is no limit to how big or small your team needs to be. You can be a solo developer and participate!

- You can only receive the Unity Asset Store voucher when you are part of the GGP Discord.

- Anything you make during Pride Jame is your property. Gay Gaming Professionals claims no rights or ownership of your game. 

- By submitting your game, you are granting us permission to promote your game on any of our social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Discord, Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, our Website)
