This jam is now over. It ran from 2025-10-17 06:00:00 to 2025-11-08 21:59:00. View 26 entries
Hello and welcome once again to the gamejam! I normally only do these at the online cons, but some people showed interest in doing them every 4 months, so consider this our trial run!
Now here's the thing, it's going to be a little different this time round since there'll be no con to show these off. My plan is to do a stream via cytube for the showcase, possibly on november 2nd, sunday 6 EST. Check the anchor for updates in schedule or anything related to the Jam
After that wall of text, let me present to you the theme for the Jam: One button!
Read that again, that's one (1) button. The games of this Jam have to be either playable using a single button (be it a keyboard key, right click of a mouse or however else you interpret it) or be centered around the press of a button.I keep saying that word, it's losing all meaning
The main thing I want out of this is short, finished games. I myself struggle with the scope of my projects, it's a skill that needs to be practiced, so let's practice it!
Any and all of this is subject to change, check the anchor for updates. This is a community thing, so if any of you have opinions or disagree on anything, please let me know
On a slightly unrelated note, you may have noticed the unidentified mare in the OP pic, say hello to: Time Crunch! She's an overconfident procrastinator. She works better under pressure... Or so she claims. Don't be like Time Crunch, pace yourselves!
This is the OC I came up with for the Jam since I wanted a special OP pic for the thread, but didn't have any mascots to use. I claim no ownership and consider her to be a thread OC.
I was thinking of her Cutie Mark being an alarm clock, but I haven't actually come up with a design. Also, I can't shake the feeling that she's missing something...
FAQ:
>When's the Jam running
As of now, from Oct 17 to Nov 2nd. Meaning RIGHT NOW AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>Where is it going to be streamed
Check the anchor within a week of the deadline, I should be set up by then
>Hey OP, if you want small games why are you giving almost three whole ass weeks?
I'm not giving you three weeks, I'm giving you three weekends. I don't want to capitalize your time, I know some of you will be very busy this time of the year, and I don't expect you to work on your games every day.
>How long will the stream be?
I don't know, depends on how many games are submitted. There is no time limit for the stream this time, so we can go as long as we like! ... But the ideal time may be a couple of hours. We'll see
>Will it be recorded?
Yes! I'll record it myself, with chat, and upload it on pony.tube
>Can I work with others to make a game?
Yeah that's fully allowed. You can do it solo or in a team
>What if I want to make a bigger game?
You could in theory, but you'll burn yourself out. I'd like for you guys to participate in this and future game jams. If this one works out we'll be doing one every 4 months. I recommend you save the bigger projects for when we have an audience in the triple digits!
>Can I submit multiple games to the Jam?
Yes! You CAN submit multiple; you're allowed to... But people normally only do one. Since the goal is centered around small games for this Jam, I supposed some more experienced devs might find it trivial and may look for extra things to do, so they can do multiple instead and stop themselves from bloating their game! Or just polish their one game, the chioce is (you)rs!
>Fuck you and fuck this I'm doing my own thing
Yeah, I guess you can, and we'll still check it out on stream if you decide to share it with us. But I recommend sticking to the restrictions. People find they're more creative when there are limitations!
>I don't want to make an itch.io account :(
Fine, you can email me your game, but expect follow up emails in case the game runs weirdly or I get a virus alert 0c0
