Welcome to the first ever LCDSS Game Jam!

Here at the LCDSS we like to encourage learning through game play. We provide students with a wide variety of PC, console, and board games. And we provide the tools, workshops, and consultations to make your own games. Our computer lab is available any time the library is open and has multiple game engines installed for you to make any game you want. And our staff is always willing to talk to you about your project and help get you started.

So now we are hosting our first ever game jam! We want to see what Temple students can do with these resources. Show us what you got!

Form a team, or make a game solo. Teams are strongly recommended for those who are new to making games. It is difficult for one person to juggle the game design, art, sound, programming, etc. all on their own. So look for some other participants to help you. You can meet up in person or use the Community section here.

You can make videogames or boardgames for this jam. Videogames can be easily uploaded and/or played here, but you can also upload a PDF file of your boardgame's rules, cards, etc. to submit a "print and play" version.

The theme of this game jam is: TOGETHER

How you interpret and integrate that theme is up to you. You can take it very literally or use it in a more abstract way. But the theme will be a major component of the judging criteria, so keep that in mind.

With the limited amount of time and experience we're not expecting fully finished masterpieces.  A few minutes of demo play, a single level, just enough to get the idea of your game across.

The LCDSS computer lab has multiple game engines installed for you to use. Or use any game engine or tools of your choice on your own computers. Below you can find some helpful links for getting started with some of these game engines.

  • Teams/Individuals submitting games must be current Temple student/faculty/staff.
  • Games should be playable by anyone. Graphic violence, nudity, language, etc. should be avoided. Think E or T ratings.
  • Blatantly offensive and discriminatory content will not be accepted.
  • Videogames should be playable on Windows. Either playable through a web browser or compiled executable. Windows preferred, but other platforms accepted if that is not an option.
  • Only use content you create or own rights to (like through an asset store).
  • Make sure that at least for the duration of the submission and judging period your game is set to be free.
