Welcome to the CSUDH IEEE CC Game Jam 2021!

IEEE CC's 2021 Game Jam Sponsored by ASI CSUDH

This is a 1-month long game development marathon sponsored by ASI CSUDH that is focused on expressing the creativity and design skills of the CSUDH community. This game jam will take place from April 16, 2021 at 3:30pm PST to May 14, 2021 at 11:59 pm PST.

What you need to know:

Who can enter? - In order to join, you must be an enrolled college student.

How do I enter? - Although our Informational Meeting has already taken place, we are still accepting new participants! If you are interested, please email ieeecc.csudh@gmail.com or grivera64@toromail.csudh.edu and sign up here on itch.io for the event!

Are there going to be prizes?  - Yes, ASI CSUDH is sponsoring prizes for this event! There will be a maximum prize of $25.00 USD in total for each team! Here's a list of the prizes in detail:

Top 3 Teams: $25.00 USD each team

Top Team for each Category: $20.00 USD

What is the theme? - The theme is:

Expect the Unexpected

Unexpected (adj.)

  • Not expected or regarded as likely to happen
  • Not anticipated or predicted 
  • Occurred abruptly, or happened without warning

Similar Words: Unforeseen, Ironic, Random, etc.

What can I make my game in? - In anything that you like, as long as it can run in a browser or on a Windows PC.

Recommended Game Engines:

Beginners: p5.js (JavaScript), pygame (Python) [JavaScript and Python can be run in the browser via https://www.replit.com]

Intermediate: libGDX (Java), Unity (C#)

Experienced: Unreal Engine (C++), LWJGL (Java)

How do I submit a submission? - You can submit your submissions here on itch.io. You will be prompted to provide the link to your source code (preferably through GitHub).

NOTE: Although it's highly recommended to make the repository of your game pubic for reference on your resumes, if you make your GitHub Repository private, please add @grivera64 as a collaborator to the project.

Who will judge my submission? - Other participants and judges will evaluate the project on a weighted scale:

50% - Other Participants
30% - Selected CSUDH Faculty
20% - Selected Non-participating judges

Note: You can't vote for your own submission.

What will my submission be judged on? - Every submission will be judged in the following categories:

  1. Creativity - How unique is my game?
  2. Art/Graphics - How creative is my game's art style?
  3. Programming Practices - How well is my code organized and documented?
  4. Quality/Completeness - How much effort did I invest into my game?
  5. Follows the Theme - How well does my game follow "Expect the Unexpected"?

While IEEE CC will be allowed to publicly show demos of any submitted projects in the Game Jam, IEEE CC will not take ownership of submitted projects. You are the full owner of your submitted Game.
