This year UniCS is hosting an awesome GameJam and you are invited to take part in. Whether you have made games before or you are a complete beginner you are invite to join and learn while creating the best version of your ideal game. You will have to choose one of the themes provided and make a game around it, be as creative as you can. The games will be rated by us (game dev department) and the top three will be awarded prizes (£300 prize pool).
To make the GameJam as accessible as possible, regardless of experience, we decided to have a list of themes instead of just one. It's up to you to decide which theme fits most with your ideas. Keep in mind that you can only choose one and it has to be easily recognizable in your game.
Submissions will be rated by us (the game dev team). The top three will be awarded amazon vouchers as following:
First Place: £150
Second Place: £100
Third Place: £50
Press the join button and make sure to join our discord. If you want to join but don't have a team, we will help you out finding teammates to work with (more details on the discord channel).
Everyone is invited to join regardless of experience and course. (You know making a game is not just about coding, right?)
The UniCS 2021 GameJam will be hosted online.
The submission will be rated with a score that's made out of 60% votes received from the community (students will have a week after the submission to vote for your game) and 40% votes from the UniCS GameDev committee.
The official start date of the GameJam is 30th of October but the team formations as well as planning are done starting from the 28th of October. The latest you can submit your game is Sunday 7th November midnight.
Yes whether you want to be a one man army and do everything by yourself or want to be part of a team you are invited to join. Don't worry if you don't have a team to join with we will try to form teams before the GameJam starts so make sure you join the discord 28th - 29th Oct.
It's recommended to use a game engine since it has a lot of boilerplate code and it will let you focus more on developing your idea. However writing your own engine is a possibility, but be aware that it will leave you less time to develop your game and you will not be marked up for technical impressiveness.
