FIST is a paranormal mercenary roleplaying game, inspired by pulp fiction, classic video games, and action movies, designed to be simple to play and easy to modify. In the game, you portray a tight-knit unit of larger-than-life characters shunned by society, forced to survive as soldiers of fortune, possibly able to walk on walls, control insects with their mind, defuse bombs while tightrope walking, and so on—it's fun!

The last FIST game jam had no theme, but this one does: MAD SCIENCE. Your jam entry should, in some way, evoke the spirit of wanton, creative experimentation in God's domain. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to write a FIST adventure about a mad scientist (although you could). Some ways the loose theme could be interpreted include:

• A diverse bestiary of enemies created through dubious scientific processes
• An armory of unique weapons with cutting-edge, unpredictable properties
• A set of experimental (even broken!) house rules that change a major aspect of the game (or everything about the game)
• An attempt at combining FIST's 20th century action and espionage with something else (post apocalyptic science fantasy? Grimdark cyber-bio-punk? Mafia cinema? Magical girls?) to create an abominable genre chimera
• Radical, paradigm-altering referee advice that spits in the face of common sense
• A big, pulsating mess of random tables, a volatile chemistry kit for the mind
• A supplemental computer program for the tabletop game (bonus if it accidentally gains sentience)
• A psychedelic zine of mercenary poetry (or an album of ultrahuman war songs?)

We could go on! The world is your oyster! If you don't have the game, you are still welcome to join. More community copies will be added for the jam, so please grab one if you're not able to spare $10!

RULES and RESOURCES

• No violent, hateful, or bigoted content will be tolerated. FIST is set in a fantastical, science-fantasy version of the real-world 20th century (similar to Wolfenstein, Metal Gear Solid, and various superhero universes), so those topics may arise—keep in mind that bigots and warmongers, fictional or not, are always the enemy.
• Please keep your entry free for the duration of the jam and voting period so everyone can see and rate it.
• After the jam, whatever you make is yours to sell—you can charge for anything you make that's compatible with FIST, you don't need permission. FIST is licensed under CC BY 3.0.

VOTING and PRIZES

After the jam is over, everyone who entered will be able to vote for their favorite entry. Each entry can be rated separately for STYLE and SUBSTANCE, and itch.io's new voting system will prompt you to rate a random selection of 5 entries before voting freely so that no entries get ignored. The voting period lasts from 10/24 to 10/31, and a winner will be announced on Halloween!
