Fabuludus is focused on interactive digital storytelling or 'playable' stories. Participants in Fabuludus will design, build, and publish a 'playable' story.

Fabuludus is conceived of primarily as an experiential learning opportunity. Participants are not required at the end of Fabuludus to have completed a polished, fully-realized work. Fabuludus is closer to the objectives of the game jam "Bring Out Your Dead," which is described as

an event for sharing dead WIPs [Works In Progress] and experiments…. It's a chance to…salvage some learning from things that didn't work out.* It's also an opportunity for your community to learn from your mistakes — which can be just as useful as learning from a success. Ambitious follies, bizarre experiments, toys, and notions that in retrospect never had a chance — all are welcome. (https://itch.io/jam/bring-out-your-dead)

*Of course, Fabuludus entries will be very-much-alive WIPs that are perhaps at the time of submission not fully worked out yet.
